A couple of notes on, well, notes.

Week six of the term has just drawn to a close, so this is a good time to ask yourself how close you are to the schedule on the syllabus.  Remember: if you stick to the schedule, you will complete a script.  The farther you drift away, the less likely you complete the class successfully.

A word on notes.  By this time, you all should have gotten back notes from me on the first round of submissions.  I try to keep up with the reading you send me and turn it around as quickly as possible.  However, no mater how long it takes me to read your submissions, never wait for my notes to continue writing.  My turnaround time is not an excuse for you to blow off writing.

Finally, are you keeping up with your blogs?   I'm out here lurking and dropping in.  Some of you are writing... some not.

Deadlines?

Just a friendly reminder: make sure, as we move forward through the term, that you're keeping track of senior project deadlines.  I think you have some work due...

Fall Term Commences!

With the initial pitch meeting out of the way, a new cycle of workshop and senior project classes is moving forward.  Remember to send me blog links immediately for where you'll be writing about your script progress.  Get started on your initial development work and e-mail me if you have any questions.

Summer Development

As the hazy days of summer float by, don't forget that fall term is just over the horizon.  For some of you, that means the start of Senior Project, your capstone to your studies at Drexel.  While you're chilling by the pool, you should be using your downtime to develop the story you want to work on for your final script.  It's never too early to start working.  Always be in development!

The End Is Nigh

This is the beginning of week 10, everyone.  Seniors, any draft you want me to read before you graduate is due in my mailbox by Friday, 5:00 PM.  After that, I won't be accepting new material.

I'd like to schedule one last individual meeting with everyone during week 10 or finals week, so e-mail me your availability.

Thanks for all the hard work, everyone.  This is the home stretch!

New Term -- Off To The Races

Greetings to anyone starting the workshop process for the spring/summer cycle of classes.  I hope to see most of you at the first meeting, scheduled for next Tuesday morning, 10:00 AM in the small screening room.  If you're on co-op or have a scheduling conflict, please remember to do two things:

1. Send me a 1-2 paragraph pitch for the story you'll be writing.
2. Send me a link to your personal blog for the class, as per the syllabus.

If you don't make it to the pitch meeting, I'll be e-mailing you the class syllabus within a few days.  Feel free to contact me or your individual instructors if you have any questions.

On the road again...

After the initial pitch meeting last week, the workshops are officially up and running.

Students midway through either their workshop or senior project should have completed the second week deadline by now.  Are you up to speed?

Co-op Lead

From Professor Abrams:

SCRP Grad Katie Nolan is working as a production coordinator at JWM Productions, just outside of Washington, DC.  She says that they take a lot of interns, and I'd guess that goes for co-op students as well.  So, if you think you're in the market for either, please contact Katie at katie@jwmprods.com.
