Competition/Festival Info

This page collects all the screenwriting and playwriting festival and competition info that is sent to me directly.  It is by no means a comprehensive list, nor is it recommended or endorsed by the SCRP Program.  It's just a list of information.  It's up to you to explore it further.

My name is Tom Hogg, and I'm the producer of the 48 Hour Film Project in Philadelphia. We're trying to get the word out about this years competition as much as we can. I was wondering if there was anyway we could get a quick plug about the competition on your departments website, listserv, and/or social media? I tried reaching out to some of the program directors but I haven't had much luck.

We've been doing the 48 HR in Philly for almost a decade now. Film groups from all over the area will have 48 hours to make a short film the weekend of April 24-26th. They will then be screened at the International House in University City on May 3rd. We were very excited to announce that the winner of the 48 Hour Film Project this year will receive 2 badges to the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 where their short will be screened!

Now in its 17th year, the New South Young Playwrights Festival supports the development of the next generation of American dramatists.  Each year we hold a national contest for college and high school playwrights, and we invite the 20-25 winners to join us in Atlanta for a FREE week of residency including workshops, rehearsals and seminars, with new play readings presented by professional actors, directors, and dramaturgs. This year’s festival dates are May 25th – 30th, 2015.
Submissions do not have to be brand new pieces – they can be previously written material.
