And Another Playwriting Opportunity...
NCP New Works Competition – Win a budget for your original show!
Have you written a new play or musical, but don’t have the finances or resources to produce it?
New Cavern Productions, Philadelphia’s newest entertainment company, is seeking original plays and musicals for The NCP New Works Competition. This is an exciting opportunity for student writers and composers in the Philadelphia area, who could win the chance to have their work fully produced by NCP, along with a production budget of up to $1,000.
Works that pass the preliminary screening will receive a 15-20 minute staged reading sample at the New Works Competition this spring. The winner, as selected by the audience, will have their work premiered by NCP at a professional local venue.
All genres are welcome, including straight plays, one acts, musicals and abstract shows.
Script submissions should be sent to info@newcavern.org, with the subject line ‘New Work Submission’. Competitors must be current high school or college students. Please include the name(s) and age(s) of the playwright(s), as well as the school/college(s) attended. The deadline for submissions is February 26th.
Event information will be released once the new works are selected.
There are opportunities for young artists of all mediums at NCP. Learn more about everything New Cavern Productions has to offer by going to our website www.newcavern.org. It's not just your professors
Sometimes you must have the feeling that you're hearing the same things again and again from the writing Profs. It's some weird fact of nature that people are more likely to believe complete strangers in certain instances than people they are more familiar with.

A couple of notes on, well, notes.
Week six of the term has just drawn to a close, so this is a good time to ask yourself how close you are to the schedule on the syllabus. Remember: if you stick to the schedule, you will complete a script. The farther you drift away, the less likely you complete the class successfully.
A word on notes. By this time, you all should have gotten back notes from me on the first round of submissions. I try to keep up with the reading you send me and turn it around as quickly as possible. However, no mater how long it takes me to read your submissions, never wait for my notes to continue writing. My turnaround time is not an excuse for you to blow off writing.
Finally, are you keeping up with your blogs? I'm out here lurking and dropping in. Some of you are writing... some not.
