New Comic Book Industry Class

VSCM 465 ST: The Graphic Novel M 3 – 6 The art of telling a story using pictures has been with us since early man scratched on the cave walls. Political comics, comic books and comic strips have been part of popular culture since the mid 1800s. Recently we have seen the rise of the graphic novel in popular culture. This course serves as a comprehensive look at the medium; a history of the medium, a look at how graphic novels are made, the diversity of the medium,  how they are edited, designed, sold, and marketed.  The course will mix reading and analysis of select titles, lecture, and discussions with industry experts, including an artist, author, agent, editor, publisher, retailer, and designer. (Rich Johnson). This is a new elective!

This class is only open to Graphic Design and Screenwriting majors.  If you're a Film & Video student who took the Comic Book Writing Class and are interested in this one, e-mail me and we can over-ride you in.  Seating is LIMITED.
